I’m currently planning an trip back to Spain in November for the start of the Volvo Ocean Race. Nothing’s confirmed, and I’m just doing my research on prices, itineraries, etc.

The overall cost of the ticket is more than reasonable, but I was surprised to see that about 20% of the total ticket cost is accounted for by flights 5616 and 5619, which are intra-Spain flights, each an hour long. Maybe it’s the value of the Euro vs. the value of the dollar, but it was just stunning to me that I can fly BWI-JFK-MAD for just three times more than the cost of flying intra-Spain………
